Small Town Gone
Small Town Gone (C.Cook)

I was born between the two rivers
The town was dry with a bible belt too
We took a drink with a shake and a shiver
Everybody knew me and everyone I knew

Every where you turn there’s a strip mall open
With all the land gone and the back yard too
I left out of here
‘cause I saw it all a comin’
And the man with the money says he just can’t lose

Stay away from here
Leave your money in the city
We’ve got every thing we need
It won’t be long and it’ll all be gone
We’re the last of a dying breed
Which way did the wind blow
Where did the time go
Wondering if it all belongs
Leave me alone I’m just singing a song
It’s just another small town gone

Look a yonder comin’ a big wheels a rollin’
In a long black car but he wasn’t born there
What do ya say to a man who wants to build
A shopping center in the middle of the old town square

Stay away from here
Leave your money in the city
We’ve got every thing we need
It won’t be long and it’ll all be gone
We’re the last of a dying breed
Which way did the wind blow
Where did the time go
Wondering if it all belongs
Leave me alone I’m just singing a song
It’s just another small town gone
Just another small town gone
