Biography
Born a saint in the city of sin, Prophet's music offers a sweet tonic for the trails and tribulations of the human heart schooled as he was from his early years on classic rock from Europe and America to classic country and the blues legends. Motivated by metaphysics, Prophet engages the audience to do more than listen passively but to "hear and act". His intense voice is haunting yet soulful and belts out with sad and seismic passion that unfurls like a sail in a summer storm. A delicious miracle elixir, Prophet blends ethnic, punk, sweet soul, hybrid blues, neo folk and experimental influences to create music that is both unique and familiar like that new vintage coat that just screams "Yes!" when you put it on. And to reinforce the malleability of his sound Jon has shared the stage with a diverse range of artists including; The Foo Fighters, P.O.D., Star Flyer 59, Mike Knott and even country legend T.G. Shepard.
Prophet's "Soul Rock" sound is always backed by a crack band. Prophet recounts, "I take people for a ride and engage them. I'm not just chit chatting up there on stage. I'm attempting to draw out of the audience their own deep desires to have a holy moment, where they stop looking at their watches and around the room and are truly lost in the experience. Where just for a while we can share and taste something eternal, and I hope to show them how they can take that feeling with them all the time. We (the band and the audience) work together to create a sacred space where ever we are and the result can be truly mystical."
