Biography
Terry Eldredge, a native of Terre Haute, Indiana, learned the standup bass at an early age from his brother Payton and then taught himself how to play the guitar. While still in high school he joined his banjo-picking brother Grady with Lonzo & Oscar and also did stints with Wilma Lee Cooper and Mike Scott and the All-American Band. There he was spotted by the Osborne Brothers’ then bus-driver, Raymond Huffmaster and the Osbornes hired him to play acoustic bass. A year later, when Paul Brewster left, the guitar spot opened up and Eldredge jumped at the chance. Eldredge credits Bobby and Sonny with fine tuning his vocal skills and forcing him to really project his voice. On Making the Rounds, Terry Eldredge takes full advantage of the smooth lonesome quality of his voice and his wide vocal range as he definitively establishes a sound of his own on the country side of the bluegrass spectrum.
