Biography
Of the many young musicians who come to Nashville, Jimmy Campbell was an exception. He already had a full time job playing fiddle for Jim & Jesse. When he got the call from the McReynolds in 1987, Jimmy was working in the steel mills in his home town of Belleville, MI, and playing music with Wendy Smith and Blue Velvet.
Jimmy recalls that in his first month with Jim & Jesse, they spent three weeks on the road and when he was not on stage, he was spending his spare time learning the McReynolds repertoire. In 1990, jimmy accepted an offer from Bill Monroe, and spent the next three years as a Bluegrass Boy. In early ’93, he returned to the Virginia Boys. – Tom Riggs
