Biography
"Growing up with parents that owned a bar, Fred Travers listened to country music as a child; he later studied music, sang in school and learned to play guitar and the drums. After watching dobro player Mike Auldridge in Washington, D.C., he switched to that instrument. In 1989, he began playing with various bands in the Maryland area, including the Gary Ferguson Band and Paul Adkins & Borderline. Pinecastle Records has released Travers's solo album Radio Tone." – John Bush, All Music Guide
"This is not just another Dobro album. It is a showcase for the many talents of Fred Travers. On the Dobro, Fred plays three original tunes and everything from Josh Graves and Flatt and Scruggs to Lennon and McCartney. He Shows off his ability as a lead singer, and gets out the flat top for some fine lead picking. On this album, Fred plays a 1930 Dobro, “Radio Tone” model." – Tom Riggs
