Back When I was a Fool
Well I thought I could walk on water, but all I did was drown
I spent my time picking up women, Lord, I but picked 'em up right off of the ground
back when I was a fool
I was always the sucker for a damsel in distress, entranced by those puppy dog eyes
always sucked in, tucked in, done in by their schemes, and drowning in a sea of their lies
but I give it up, I don't act that way no more
and I give her up, I have leaned some things for sure
Turns out that she didn't really want to love as much as she wanted to rule
I grew wiser and learned the tricks of the trade, the things they don't teach you in school
back when I was a fool
How many times did I give that woman one more chance, she promised a rose without thorns
how many times did I get left at the dance, step in the bull, look out for the horns
but I give it up, I don't go down there no more
and I give her up, learned some hard lessons for sure
Oh yeah, I know what I'm doin', oh yeah, man I got it all figured out, she says she has a plan!.....
