Ashaka and Ramjam Reggae is a reggae band that plays a straight-up original style of reggae music dubbed “now school reggae.” The band is led by Linval Thomas, aka, Ashaka, Jamaican-born writer, singer, arranger and producer; the band is relevant. The band is a tale of two cities. Ashaka resides in Belleville, Illinois, and the other members of the band reside in St Louis, Missouri, USA. Their music is conscious, contemporary, contagious and original. The music's influences range from Bob Marley to Peter Tosh.
The core members of Ashaka and Ramjam Reggae include: Ashaka - Lead Vocals and Rhythm Guitar; Dave Hagerty - Bass Guitar, Michael Little -Lead Guitar, and Evrette Olson - Drums. Their live, Demo, reggae hit single "Save Darfur" debuted at number 9 on Missouri Roots Radio Airplay Chart, October 6, 2009 - it crossed over!
