Big Easy Down
Well, I'm sitting on the Bayou with a broken heart.
I can't believe just what I found.
Oh, the way they only watched us
as those levees broke apart
and the way they let Big Easy down.

Man, there's people climbing, clambering,
couches up upon they roof
while the water swelled up all around.
Woe, you think your Gov'ment loves you buddy,
there's your proof.
Oh, the way they let Big Easy down.

We're all alone boys but we're not afraid.
We know they can't keep us down.
By grace alone are lowly sinners saved.
We might be lost but we'll be found.

And those slimy politicians with their big fat mouths
stumbled 'cross the stage like drunken clowns.
We'll chase them tarred and feathered
from the sweet dark south
for the way they let Big Easy down.

We're all alone, little girl, but we're not afraid
We know they can't keep us down.
By grace alone are lowly sinners saved.
We might be lost but we'll be found.

Still they wag their crooked fingers,
spit'n oaths out they can't keep
while people scrape their lives up off the ground.
Woe, a great and mighty nation hang your head and weep for the way you let Big Easy down.
