Biography
Songwriter John Mathis has spent a number of years honing his craft in the Gospel music industry garnering cuts by some of the legendary artists in that field. He also writes his own brand of Country and Americana Music, such as the song, “He Man Woman Hater’s Club”, selected to be among top songs for the 2007 CMT Music City Madness Video Contest.
John’s love for songwriting was inspired by his father, ‘Country’ Johnny Mathis, a successful singer and songwriter whose list of cuts reads like a who’s who of Traditional Country Music: George Jones, Johnny Paycheck, Charlie Pride, Johnny Horton, Webb Pierce, George Hamilton IV, Carl Smith, Freddy Fender, The Whites and the list goes on.
John’s main focus is his writing but you’ll
also find him getting out sharing his songs
as well as his father’s music. His seasonal Christmas release for 2008, "All I Want For Christmas Is Beer" was adopted by radio stations, syndicated programs, web sites and line dance venues across the country.
