Helen of Troy

HELEN OF TROY
Glass/Wolfe

The stage . . . the stage is set . . . the battle begins . . . and the players are playing to win

Though great fighters are on each side . . . they’re unable to turn the tide
On they fight, but no winner is clear . . . on it remains for ten long years
For Paris intends to keep his prize . . . filling her lovely head with lies
But for the Trojans, there’s hope in sight . . . great Achilles refuses to fight

Though the Greek King will make amends . . . it’s too late to save his closest friend
So the mighty Achilles takes aim . . . Hector’s in his sight again
He kills Hector with a clever ploy . . . drags his body round the walls . . . of Troy

Hector’s body in it’s tomb . . . oracle see Achilles’ doom
Events in motion like a wheel . . . poisoned arrow in his heel . . . in his heel

Because the Greeks can’t take Troy by force . . . they decide to use a wooden horse
With their best fighters hidden inside . . . the rest sail out with the tide
The Trojans feel their spirits lift . . . the Greeks have gone and left a gift
They wheel the horse inside the gates . . . soon they will realize their mistake
Teh Trojans celebrate with a feast . . . they’ll be hit when they expect it least
For while they sleep, the Greeks attack . . . their army had turned and then sailed back
Menelaus feels Helen is near . . . while she is hidden away in fear
He finds where she is hidden . . . she pleads with him and is forgiven

The war is over, the Greeks have won . . . dead are King Priam and Hector’s son
Achilles’ ghost appears from the grave . . . to tell his son “Try to be brave”

The sacrifice of Priam’s daughter . . . will calm the once turbulent waters
The Greeks sail home, for their work is done . . . one man’s Odyssey has just begun
