Around the year 2000, Darrell and country music renegade David Allan Coe began composing and recording songs together at Dime's studio. In 2006, Vinnie (Paul) released 12 of the songs on an album called Rebel Meets Rebel. Coe and Dime were kindred spirits whose musical talents and instincts clicked. The old country outlaw's inclinations toward pushing the boundaries of country music made him open to Dime's metal style, while working with Coe afforded Darrell the opportunity to reach beyond metal riffs and solos.
Dime met David Allan Coe when he and Vinnie went to see the country outlaw at Billy Bob's Texas in Fort Worth. Dime loved the show and afterward waited in line like evryone else to get an autograph and to give DAC some Pantera CDs. The two hit it off immediately. Later that night, DAC popped in the Pantera CD and it floored him. He later told Dime and Vinnie, "It was like not knowing who The Beatles were and just discovering them." The next day, he called Dime, and the two decided to write some songs together ... Rebel Meets Rebel was born!!!!
