Biography
ANNIE DINERMAN is a Songwriters Hall of Fame award-winner, a singer-songwriter whose lyrics reveal a funny, frank and very female point of view. Women in her audience identify, and men want to be the man she writes about. Annie walks in the footsteps of storytelling artists like Paul Simon and Wendy Waldman. Annie’s singing voice will remind you of a young Carole King, but her warm, witty and womanly writer’s voice is distinctly Dinerman.

Annie Dinerman's new independent Contemporary Folk CD, "Broken Cookies", will be released within the next few weeks. "Broken Cookies" was produced by Steve Addabbo (Shawn Colvin, Suzanne Vega, Sonya Kitchell). All 12 tracks can be heard in this DPK, including the title song, a collaboration with Addabbo. Annie received a grant from the Anna Sosenko Assist Trust to cover some recording expenses for this CD, also financed in part by the Abe Olman Award from Songwriters Hall of Fame.

She was taught the value of craftsmanship at an early age by her first-generation American parents, who grew up working with their hands--her mother in her father’s tailoring shop, her father in his family’s wholesale poultry business. Annie first found a large and loyal following for her original songs as a college student, and later in Southwest Ohio coffeehouses. The only native Ohioan in a family of transplanted New Yorkers, she heard the artist’s call and moved to New York to concentrate on songwriting. In June of 2006, Annie made her debut at the Kerrville Folk Festival as a songwriting contest finalist. Annie’s most recent performances include the Queens International Film Festival, and the Dance Flurry Festival (Saratoga, NY). She was selected to close the Friday night showcase at Cape May Singer Songwriter 2009, and her song, "My Ex-Boyfriend", is on the 2009 Cape May compilation CD. (You can hear the song in this dpk right now.)

There are over 30 covers of Annie Dinerman’s songs, including “Child In Me Again”, recorded by Kathie Gifford on her “Born For You” CD (2000). The CD hit three Billboard charts: #1 on Heatseekers, #6 on Top Contemporary Christian, and #139 on Top 200.
