Biography
LaVon “Donnie” Tatem is an American Singer/Songwriter, Producer and member of the R&B Recording Act “TRU” from Camden, NJ. TRU stands for (Talented, Religious & Unique), the other members of TRU are James “Jimi” Williams and Primo Wansley.
Donnie was co-founder of the Jazz Trio "Jazz Eternity" along with Ryan Bates, he also was a member of the group "The Gentlemen Of Leisure" that recorded the single "Never Had A Love Like This Before" in 1980.
In 1981 Donnie was a member of the legendary gospel group "The Stars Of Harmony", an accapella vocal group from Woodbury, NJ.
In 1995 Donnie was recruited to play the starring role in the off-Broadway play "If Only For You" by IJN Productions of Atlantic City, NJ.
During the late '80's through the 90's, Donnie toured as a solo Gospel Artist.
In 2008 Donnie joined TRU and with them recorded the albums:
• With TRU Love in 2009 on Sounds Of Philly Records and wrote and produced the song “You’re Not Alone”.
• My Love Is TRU in 2010 on Society Hill Records and wrote the songs “Night & Day Dreams” and “Who Do You See When You Look At Me?”
• Recorded background vocals on the 2010 CD of Glenn Leonard (former lead singer of the Temptations) featuring Jean Carne entitled “Then and Now”
• “Promise of the Future” in 2011 on LAVON D. TATEM MUSIC, title track for the upcoming CD of the same name. It was written and produced by Donnie
As a solo artist Donnie recorded the albums:
• Background vocals on the movie score “The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh” on Lorimar Records in 1979
• ….thoughts… on LaBri Enterprises Entertainment Productions in 1995
• Instrumentals on LaBri Enterprises Entertainment Productions in 1997
• TOTALLY HUMAN in 2012 on LAVON D. TATEM MUSIC
