Biography
James Lee Stanley legendary writer/artist/performer
Not only does James write beautiful, intelligent, well-crafted songs, but he sings and plays the guitar so well, he makes the whole thing look effortless! He also punctuates his performance with often downright hilarious repartee in between numbers. He is that rare commodity, an actual entertainer on stage. And as such he's opened for Steven Wright, Robin Williams, Bonnie Raitt, etc. As an artist, James did have a Top-5 hit with Coming Out of Hiding. He also scored the emmy award-winning Cathy specials for prime time CBS. With more than 20 albums to his credit, this very prolific singer-songwriter has garneredincredible praise over the years. FI magazine in their March 1999 issue hailed his solo album Freelance Human Being as a masterpiece and, the following year, listed it as one of the top 200 CD's of all time, along with the likes of Miles Davis, Joni Mitchell, and The Beatles. Always with something exciting in the works, James just completed a new musical which is scheduled for release in winter of 2009. He also produced a joint effort with longtime friend and collaborator John Batdorf, All Wood and Stones. It's a "concept album", a collection of eleven classic Rolling Stones songs, all done up "acoustic". It's the Stones like you've never heard them before. The reviews have been outstanding and all the songs have been getting monster airplay, particularly on XM Satellite Radio. Hss latest release (April 2007) is his first solo outing in four years. It's his 20th release, The Eternal Contradiction on Beachwood Recordings.
And on another front altogether, James Lee was various aliens on Star Trek / Deep Space Nine. If you ever saw a klingon singing, you were looking at James Lee.
