Biography
Produced by acclaimed Nashville session musicians Jeff Taylor (of the Time Jumpers) and John Mock (formerly of the Dixie Chicks band), the concept record “Where Did the Time Go” reaches across musical genres with story songs of great depth. Euferzine is a pseudonym that singer-songwriter Denise Reagan uses when performing. It was her grandmother’s name, and she has adopted it as a way to give homage to a forgotten time.

The project includes several musical styles: celtic, folk, bluegrass, jazz and old-time. Musical artists are typically limited to singing one genre but this project breaks through those customary restrictions.

The songs are based on stories she learned while researching her family tree. They cover the time immigrants left Europe for America in the 1600s to life in Appalachia in the 1940s. The topics range from saints to sinners, Native Americans, Long Hunters, Patriots, Union Soldiers, Confederates, Outlaws & Preacher Men. All those characters fell out of her family tree.

Denise grew up on the Tennessee/ Kentucky border in the small town of Jamestown, Tennessee. It is west of Rugby, south of Pall Mall and southwest of the Big South Fork. Those tiny towns you have never heard of have historic significance. Her relatives were pioneers and big influencers in the history of that very small place. The musical sound is tied to that Cumberland Plateau area.

Euferzine music is hard to categorize. Some would call it Americana or Roots music. Sometimes it is a blend of several styles. It harkens back to a time when life was simpler, but not easier.

A previous music project, “Excuse Me, But I Have Something to Say,” was released in 2012. The Euferzine website includes background information on the recordings and the family history that inspired the music.
