Album Description:

In bluegrass, legends don’t come any bigger than Lester Flatt. As vocalist and guitar player for Bill Monroe’s Bluegrass Boys in the 1940’s, Flatt was part of the group that came to define the bluegrass sound. As a partner in the duo of Flatt and Scruggs, Flatt took bluegrass to new heights. In the Mid-Seventies, Flatt formed The Nashville Grass with great players such as Curly Sechler and Paul Warren, as well as a teenage mandolin prodigy and future country star named Marty Stuart.

Featuring career defining songs such as “Good Times are Past and Gone,” “If I Should Wander Back Tonight” and “The Ballad of Jed Clampett” and treasures such as “Why Did You Wander” and “Drink That Mash and Talk That Trash,” The Essential Lester Flatt and the Nashville Grass is a joyous and soulfully performed collection that shows why Lester Flatt is a hero to so many bluegrass fans.
