Biography

Domenica is an intense, hard rock/punk band from Winnipeg, Canada with a very unique sound and a solid, aggressive live show. They have been loosly compared to The Distillers, angry Alanis Morrisette, Nine Inch Nails, Evanescence, System Of A Down, Muse and Nirvana.

Fronted by a former teenage-model on rhythm guitar/lead vocals, Domenica has begun to split away from the “chick band” stereotype. With sarcastic, tongue and cheek lyrics delivered by a group of tightly knit friends whom all have well over 10 years of performance experience each. Domenica’s explosive and solid live performances have taken them to the top of the local scene and have seen their reach extend over western Canada. Rebekkah, a fierce and commanding frontperson with an easy going persona, has proven to many young girls that they don’t have to wear lots of makeup or be fragile to be sexy. She expertly plays her hard rock guitar with a feminine flair men and women alike have started to appreciate, as they have recently begun to witness with the emergence of Domenica fan-mail. Domenica in essence, is a perfect balance between aggressive and pretty: metal rock with pop hooks. This balance is evident in their stage show, their writing style, and their individual demeanors. Domenica is a sincerely organic project that has grown into a popular local, and now somewhat Canadian, affair.

Over the last 3 years, Domenica has been actively working to further their reach in North America and abroad. Beginning with a headlining slot at “Chicksrockfest” in Newport, Kentucky in 2004, the band moved on to play the Western Canadian Music Awards VIP afterparty in Winnipeg in 2006, a successful Canadian Music Week showcase in Toronto in 2007 and a standing room only NXNE 2007 showcase. The band has more recently returned home from a very successful 3 week tour throughout western Canada, and has been asked to return to many of the cities as soon as possible.


In 2006, Domenica became the first female-fronted act to win a spot on Winnipeg rock radio station Power 97 FM’s “Class of 2006” CD, throwing their single “Luxury” into high rotation at the station. Soon thereafter, another Winnipeg station, Freq 107 FM, picked up “Luxury” and “Waste Away”, which are still receiving a fair amount of airplay in the city. “Luxury” has been in regular rotation in Winnipeg since the summer of 2006.

The band has made numerous contacts through their showcasing and touring, and have A & R personnel in Los Angeles, New York, and Berlin waiting to hear more material from the band.

Domenica intends to finish there 1st full length album entitled “The Luxury” with acclaimed rock producer Brandon Friesen. They expect to complete their recordings in January of 2008.
