The sweet sounds of the Hammond B-3 organ take center stage on Boogaloo to Jack McDuff – a loving tribute to one of the funkiest musicians of the twentieth century.
McDuff paved the way for modern jazz and funk with his unique style that was equal parts soul, funk and blues. His group was among the most popular jazz combos of the mid-‘60s and featured the talents of a young guitarist named George Benson. The music world lost a true legend with McDuff’s passing in 2001.
Thankfully, “Brother Jack’s” influence lives on in the music of some the hottest jazz combos performing today who dig deep into McDuff’s soulful keyboard explorations to create a tribute album that would have made the master proud.
