Wilma Lee Cooper was born on February 7, 1921 into a family of gospel singers (The Leary Family) from Valley Head, West Virginia. The family made a number of recordings for the Library of Congress in 1938. In 1941 she married the group's fiddler, Stoney Cooper and together they played on WWVA Jamboree in Wheeling, WV for ten years before joining the Grand Ole Opry in 1957. Wilma, Stoney and their band, The Clinch Mountain Clan, performed for twenty years on the Opry. They had seven chart hits in the late 1950's and early 1960's.

Wilma has been inducted into the Preservation Hall of Greats by the Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music in America and received an award of merit by the International Bluegrass Music Association.

This was Wilma's first album after Stoney's death in 1977. She recruited new band members for the project and her daughter Carol Lee Cooper of the Grand Ole Opry's Carol Lee Singers is singing harmony.

The songs on the album were some of Wilma's favorites.
