How did Turquoise Willie start? Chris and Jason were on the road again, this time playing another suck-butt gig in front of non-music fans. Y'all have done those gigs. They were sad, very sad and actually a little embarrassed even calling it a gig.

Part of the pay was getting to have all the Wolfgang Puck pizza they wanted. So, what the hell, they went on a Pizza Bender in the hotel room and started talking. They ordered a first batch of pies and talked about listening to early rock and soul, rock & roll on the radio. Stax, Chess, Memphis sounds, Muscle Shoals, all those cool rock sounds.

Then came the order for another 5-6 pies and The Pizza

Bender moved to talks about let's make some music we like, what you doing this weekend? By that weekend, the first tracks of Turquoise Willie were being laid down. Enjoy the efforts of capturing the sounds and feelings of where the music all started for Chris and Jason.

Oh, and yeah, there was a walk of shame leaving a room with that many pizza boxes for just the two of them.
