Biography
Robin Henkel's specialties are raw, rural country blues, acoustic slide guitar, National Tricone lap slide guitar and steel guitar.
Born in Florida, raised in California, Robin Henkel at 56 has played since age eight and performed professionally since 1973. Styles and interests include the country blues of Robert Johnson, Fred McDowell, Lightnin Hopkins and many others. The earliest childhood influences were Pete Seeger and Josh White.
Robin Henkel performs solo as a country blues artist and leads his own groups with a couple of different band formats 1) two saxophones, guitar, bass and drums, playing jazz, blues, swing dance, slide and steel guitar music, and 2) blues quartet with harmonica, guitar, bass and drums.
Robin has released nine record releases since 1979 (see www.myspace.com/robinhenkel, pics, recording releases)--LP, cassettes, CDs. CD number ten is in the making and features steel guitar and saxophone arrangements--swing Americana.
