When three Cajun music greats and virtuosos team, it seems inevitable that they would make a superb recording. Le Trio Cadien wasn't quite that magical, but it was certainly first-rate. D.L. Menard's vocals and guitar work were at their usual fervent peak, while Eddie LeJeune provided some swaying, rocking accordion and poignant, moving vocals during his numbers. Ken Smith was a superior instrumentalist, taking the spotlight on "Bayou Pon Pon" and "Blues de Port Arthur." There's very little wrong with this album, and plenty that's excellent. Only the air of casual intimacy rather than charged intensity kept this from being one of those unforgettable summit meetings. Instead, it's more like a wonderful get-together.
