Album Description:

The Essential Osborne Brothers Collection features classic bluegrass from the legendary Osborne Brothers who have hand-picked the 20 selections from the CMH vaults for this release. Sonny, innovator on the five and six-string banjo, and Bobby, who’s applied his distinctive jazzy style to the Bill Monroe mandolin sound, serve up a wide array of bluegrass standards, Osborne originals, country classics, fiery instrumentals along with four songs written by the Country-Music-Hall-Of-Fame members Boudleaux and Felice Bryant.

After nearly half-century in the bluegrass spotlight, the Osborne Brothers have artfully balanced classic bluegrass with progressive advances, including non-traditional instrumentation: steel guitar, piano, drums and amplification. They have been inducted into the IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) Hall of Honor and have remained concert, festival and Grand Ole Opry headliners (members since 1964). They continue to turn out strong-selling and critically acclaimed recordings and The Essential Osborne Brothers Collection captures the best of their best from the CMH vaults.
