-2016-
The VizzTone label group is proud to present the new album from the Austin Young Band – Not So Simple, with a September 16, 2016 release date. This album is the highly anticipated follow-up to Austin’s 2013 VizzTone debut, Blue As Can Be, which brought him to national attention as one of the most exciting young faces in the blues. Hailing from Denver, Colorado, the Austin Young Band delivers their signature brand of high energy blues rock, with an emphasis on guitar virtuosity and a soulful, natural vocal delivery. This album also highlights Austin’s songwriting, which has become more personal, diverse and complex.
The Austin Young Band performs mostly as a power trio, featuring Alex Goldberg on bass and Forrest “the Rim Wrecker” Raup on drums. On the record they are occasionally augmented by organ or horns. The final track, “Angel Flying Home,” is a moving tribute to Austin’s father, to whom the record is dedicated, performed solo by Ausin on electric guitar and vocals.
All songs are original compositions from Austin and the band, incorporating fresh elements of contemporary blues and rock that reflect Austin’s many influences, from classic blues heroes like Albert King and Hubert Sumlin to contemporary artists including the likes of Gary Clark, Jr., Eric Gales and Joe Bonamassa. Hints of broader influences can be heard in the songs, as Austin and the band draw from a broad palette of contemporary music. With an evolving and maturing style, the Austin Young Band incorporates the sheer honesty of the blues and performs it with a modern, high energy sound that breaks new ground while remaining faithful and always doing justice to its traditional roots.
