The beard. The gambler. The chicken. Kenny Rogers is certainly iconic. And the hit singles of course. Over the years, Kenny certainly had a few of those too. Like fall leaves, his voice is warm and crisp. The alchemy for this success is simple: take a great song and paint it in hues of country pop. A decade-long stretch, beginning with “Lucille” in 1976, saw song after song float to the top of the charts like champagne bubbles. Kenny’s breezy and easy songs are like meeting an old friend: welcoming and always reassuring.

With so many hits to his name, choosing the songs for The Bluegrass Tribute to Kenny Rogers proved to be deliciously difficult. Whether playing the First Edition hit “Reuben James” or the legendary “The Gambler,” a collective of great bluegrass musicians take these songs and strip the pop sheen and rough up the edges with rolling banjo, sizzling fiddle, and tender mandolin. The folky roots of Kenny Rogers are given the opportunity to flourish on The Bluegrass Tribute to Kenny Rogers.
